Pio Cesare ‘ornato’ Barolo DOCG 1997

Nebbiolo 100%

The Barolo Ornato from the historic Piedmontese winery Pio Cesare is a high-end label, first produced in 1985 to showcase the extraordinary characteristics of the Ornato cru grapes. It is produced in small quantities, precisely to preserve the high quality that makes it one of the most sought-after bottles by enthusiasts. It is a Barolo that presents the classic profile of the Serralunga d’Alba terroir, famous for its complexity, power, structure, and longevity for centuries. The Barolo Ornato wine is born in one of the most famous realities in the Langhe. Pio Cesare was founded at the end of the 19th century and still today represents the traditional face of great Barolo. The estate covers about 70 hectares, with plots cultivated in some of the most prestigious crus in the region. The grapes for this prestigious label come exclusively from the vineyards of Cascina Ornato, located in the Serralunga d’Alba area, one of the most celebrated areas of the appellation for the extraordinary quality and longevity of its wines. Fermentation is initiated in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with a maceration period on the skins lasting about a month. The wine matures in Slavonian oak barrels and a small part in barriques for 30 months, completing its refinement in the bottle.
