Maculan Fratta 2004

Cabernet Sauvignon 50%, Merlot 50%

The Maculan “Fratta” by Maculan represents the most prestigious label of the renowned Breganze winery, the pinnacle of its production, created to fulfill Fausto Maculan’s dream of crafting a superb aging red wine. Always passionate about Bordeaux wines, an indispensable oenological reference for those cultivating Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Fausto initiated an innovative project that involved all facets of the company. Recognizing that a great bottle starts in the vineyard, he selected the parcels with the best exposures. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes come from a vineyard located in the Ferrata area, cultivated with extremely high density, while the Merlot grapes originate from the Villa Elettra vineyard, planted in 1999 on a slope facing east-southeast. After the manual harvest with vineyard selection of the finest clusters, the fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with skin maceration for 8 days and frequent pump-overs. Prior to bottling, the wine matures for 12 months in French oak barriques, 80% of which are new.
