M. Chapoutier Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2015

Grenache and other grapes

Michel Chapoutier’s Chateauneuf-du-Pape Bio red wine originates from Grenache vines and other typical red grape varieties cultivated in certified biodynamic agriculture within the stunning Chateauneuf-du-Pape region. These vineyards lie on prized terraces composed of galets roulés, smooth round pebbles deposited over millennia by the old Rhône River course’s floods from the Alps. These pebbles create a perfect soil structure, complemented by the red sandy clay underneath, which retains water at depth, allowing the plants to endure the hot and dry summers typical of the lower Rhône Valley region. Harvesting is performed manually when the grapes reach full maturity, selecting the healthiest bunches. Fermentation takes place in concrete vats at a controlled temperature below 32°C, with an extended maceration on the skins lasting for three or four weeks. The wine is aged for 15-18 months in concrete vats and wooden barrels.
