E. Guigal Chateau d’Ampuis Cote Rotie 2003

Syrah 100%

The E. Guigal winery was founded in 1946 in Ampuis, a village located in the AOC Côte-Rôtie, by Etienne Guigal, who, after working at the Vidal-Fleury winery, decided to create his own family domaine. In 1961, Marcel succeeded Etienne, and from 1973, he was joined in managing the company by his wife Bernadette. Later, their son Philippe, representing the third generation, and his wife Eva also joined the business. Generation after generation, the Guigal family expanded the company’s properties: in 1984, they acquired the historic Vidal-Fleury winery and later, in 1995, the Château d’Ampuis, whose long history is directly linked to the Côte-Rôtie appellation. The vineyards cover 7 exceptional terroirs: Le Clos “Côte Blonde,” La Garde “Côte Blonde,” La Grande Plantée “Côte Blonde,” La Pommière “Côte Brune,” Le Pavillon Rouge “Côte Brune,” Le Moulin “Côte Brune,” and La Viria “Côte Brune.” The fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks, while the aging occurs for 38 months in new oak barrels.
