E. Guigal Hermitage 2010

Syrah 100%

Description

The Hermitage Rouge from the Guigal winery is a robust and highly-structured red wine originating from the northern Rhône Valley in France. Founded in 1946 in Ampuis by Etienne Guigal, the winery has been a family-run business for generations, consistently dedicated to meticulous quality research to maintain the region’s wine reputation. This red wine encapsulates the essence of the Rhône, presenting all the traits of elegance and finesse typical of Syrah from the area. The Hermitage Rouge is an exceptional red wine crafted from Syrah grapes sourced from steep south-facing slopes situated just behind the town of Tain-l’Hermitage. Historically, this area gives rise to some of the most powerful and structured red wines in the entire northern Rhône Valley. The vineyards, approximately 30 years old, line the banks of the Rhône River. The vines are planted in loamy, clay soils with sandy gravels on the surface, often individually staked and protected with raffia from the strong north winds. The winemaking process begins with temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation and maceration on the skins for around 4 weeks. Subsequently, the wine is aged for about 36 months in oak barrels, half of which are new and half are used, before bottling.
