Louis Latour, Les Champgains, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru 2009

Chardonnay 100%

The Premier Cru “Les Champgains” from Maison Louis Latour is an emblematic wine of the Puligny-Montrachet appellation, which covers an area of 216 hectares in Burgundy. The origin of this name would mean “fields gained from the forest.” Today, the forests have given way to a prestigious vineyard located in the heart of a group of Puligny-Montrachet Premier Crus, known and appreciated for its Chardonnay wines worldwide. It has an exceptional terroir, with the vines facing southeast and having an average age of 35 years. They are situated at an altitude ranging from 340 to 360 meters above sea level on soils rich in limestone and gravel, which impart a certain minerality to the wines. The fermentation is traditionally carried out in oak barrels. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, 50% of which are new, from the cooperage of Louis Latour, for a period of 8 to 10 months.
