Gorgona Bianco Frescobaldi 2022

Ansonica Vermentino

Description

The Gorgona Bianco by Frescobaldi is a unique label in the Italian wine landscape. It is the result of a project born from the collaboration between the Frescobaldi family and the Gorgona Penal Institution. The Bianco Gorgona is produced by a historic name in Italian winemaking. For centuries, the Frescobaldi family has been cultivating vineyards and producing wine in the heart of Tuscany, where they own several estates in particularly prestigious areas. The social project of Gorgona began in 2011, and since then, Frescobaldi’s enologists have offered their expertise for vineyard work and winemaking on Gorgona. Inmates learn skills that they can use in their professional lives once they have served their sentences. The vineyards of Ansonica and Vermentino are organically grown on terraces characterized by poor, stony soils. The warm, dry, and always breezy climate is very suitable for vine cultivation. After the harvest, the clusters are gently pressed, and the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine is aged in terracotta amphorae to preserve the primary aromas of the grapes.
