Chateau L’Eglise-Clinet – Pomerol 1995 1,5L

Merlot, Cabernet Franc

Château l’Eglise-Clinet is a historic winery rooted in the early 1800s within the Pomerol appellation, currently owned by Denis Durantou, who has managed the estate since 1983. Its history traces back to Monsieur Mauleon-Rouchut, an ancestor who merged parcels of Clos L’Eglise (previously owned by the family) and Château Clinet (previously owned by the Constant family) to create a unique vineyard. Initially named Clos L’Eglise Clinet, this vineyard eventually derived its current name. Every stage of production, from harvest to bottling, is closely monitored: fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, and aging is carried out in oak barrels. Producing just under ten thousand bottles annually from 4.2 hectares predominantly planted with Merlot (90%), which thrives ideally in this region, and 10% Cabernet Franc, Château l’Eglise-Clinet has been producing some of the most significant labels in the appellation since the late 20th century. The wines crafted by Denis Durantou’s estate are intense, pure, and rich, capable of competing at a high level with the most prestigious labels in the Pomerol region, particularly in the finest vintages.
