Chateau Gruaud-Larose – Saint Julien 2001

The origins of Château Gruaud Larose date back to the mid-18th century, but its “modern” history began in 1997 when the estate was purchased by the Merlaut family, who already owned other vineyards in Médoc. With over eighty hectares of vineyards falling within the Saint-Julien appellation, the château’s rows predominantly host Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vines, complemented, albeit in small quantities, by Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Grapes are cultivated using organic methods, avoiding the use of insecticides, pesticides, or chemical herbicides. In the cellar, the fruit is processed while aiming to enhance its most natural expressions, with vinification occurring in concrete tanks or wooden vats, and aging taking place in French oak barrels for at least 18 months.
