Argiano, Suolo, Rosso Toscana IGT 2005

Sangiovese 100%

Description

The Argiano estate in Montalcino is a jewel in the province of Siena. Its history took a turn during the ownership of the noble Sienese family of the Pecci, leading to the construction of the splendid villa between 1581 and 1596, an example of a sixteenth-century noble residence. Thanks to the construction of the cellar, Argiano then developed its vocation as a winery. The wine “Suolo” is made 100% from Sangiovese grapes from the estate’s oldest vineyards. The name, “Suolo,” pays homage to the soils that give the wine its great complexity. After the harvest, fermentation takes place in contact with the skins in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, lasting about three weeks. The wine then matures in new French oak barrels with a very fine grain, carefully selected to emphasize the softness of the fruit and tannins.
