Tenuta Selvadolce, Rucantu Pigato 2009

Pigato 100%

The Rucantu from Tenuta Selvadolce is a rhythmic infusion of sea and Mediterranean scrub, an engaging expression of Pigato. The fundamental and indispensable concept of terroir has been undeniably emptied of some of its meaning due to some apathetic, sterile liquids that are disconnected from the land and the vintage. Drinking the wines from Selvadolce, in this case, the Rucantu, means entering an intimate connection with Pigato and one of its chosen places. It allows the fruit and nature to have the necessary space and rhythms to express themselves at their best. Five hectares of vineyards, divided between Vermentino and Pigato, follow the principles of biodynamics without forcing anything. Non-interventionism doesn’t mean leaving things to chance, and all the wines from the estate testify to this. Precise, sparkling, expressive. It’s like drinking a piece of land. The white Rucantu is made from 100% Pigato grapes from vines over 30 years old, situated at 150 meters of altitude on calcareous soil. In the vineyard, as mentioned, concepts like cyclicity and circularity find their reflection in biodynamic agriculture. In the winery, the basic philosophy is not altered, and spontaneous alcoholic fermentations occur in barrels. In the case of this bottle, there is also skin maceration for several days. The wine matures for 8 months in wood.
