La Spinetta Ca di Pian – Barbera d’Asti 2001

Barbera 100%

The history of the Rivetti family begins in 1890 when Giovanni Rivetti leaves for Argentina, leaving his family in Italy. It was his son Giuseppe who began laying the foundations for the creation of a winery: he started producing wine, and in 1977, the Rivetti family settled in La Spinetta, Castagnole Lanze, where they began producing their first red wine, Barbera Cà di Pian. Recently, the Rivettis also acquired vineyards in Grinzane Cavour, where they built an art cellar called Barolo Campè. The family’s vineyards also extend to Tuscany, covering about 65 hectares of land. The Barbera d’Asti from Cantina La Spinetta is born in the estate located on the top of the hill in Castagnole Lanze, at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level. The vines are 30 to 35 years old and are managed with low yields to obtain intense and concentrated grapes. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The aging process lasts approximately 10-12 months in French oak barrels, followed by 12 months in the bottle before being released to the market.
