Gorgona Rosso Frescobaldi 2021

Sangiovese 50% Vermentino Nero 50%

The Gorgona Rosso Frescobaldi, besides being an excellent wine, also possesses a high ethical value. This label is the result of a collaboration between the Frescobaldi winery and the Gorgona Penal Institution. The Rosso Gorgona is the product of the expertise of a historic Tuscan winery. The Frescobaldi family manages several estates in the Chianti Classico, Montalcino, and Montepulciano areas, producing a range of wines that represent the best terroirs of the region. Gorgona is the smallest and most rocky island of the Tuscan Archipelago, characterized by clear brightness and a typically Mediterranean climate, influenced by sea breezes. The soils are stony, and the steep slopes often require terracing supported by stone walls to allow for vine cultivation. Among the rows, Sangiovese and Vermentino Nero are organically grown, reaching perfect ripeness with intense aromas. After the harvest, the grapes are fermented at a controlled temperature with maceration on the skins. The wine is aged in terracotta amphorae to preserve the intact varietal aromatic profile.
