Chateau Haut-Beausejour – Saint Estephe 1996

Merlot, Cabernet Franc

Classified as a Cru Bourgeois in the early 1930s, specifically in 1932, Château Haut-Beauséjour once formed, along with Château Picard, a single estate encompassing over thirty hectares of vineyards. In the vineyard, the varietal distribution comprises 52% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 8% Petit Verdot. Cultivated on gravel and clay-rich soils with limestone substrates, the vines have reached an average age of sixty years, tended to with utmost respect for the balance of nature and the ecosystem. In the cellar, the winemaking processes adhere closely to deeply rooted local winemaking traditions. Fermentation occurs in large oak vats, while aging takes place in French oak barrels for a minimum of twelve months.
