Description
The wine “Cenerentola” is part of the Orcia denomination, established on February 14, 2000 (Valentine’s Day), located between the territories of Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The story of this wine, just like the fairy tale from which it takes its name, is a tale of challenge, the challenge of a young DOC eager to stand out among its two larger and more famous sisters. Donatella Cinelli Colombini, who produces Cenerentola wine at Fattoria del Colle in the high hills of southern Tuscany, decided to use two autochthonous grape varieties: Sangiovese, the king of the Tuscan vineyard, and Foglia Tonda, a grape variety abandoned for over a century. The grapes from both varieties are harvested, vinified, and matured separately in barrels before being blended shortly before bottling. This method allows each vineyard’s grapes to undergo a “customized” maturation in the right wooden barrel and for the right duration. This is the magical touch that makes Cenerentola DOC Orcia unique, and it is becoming a cult wine, unlike any other. The label features a faceless woman descending a staircase at night in the Tuscan hills; she represents every woman who accepts challenges and desires to love.
