Home to some of the world’s most extraordinary Chardonnays, including the famous Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet is the geographical intermediary of the white wine villages, bordered by Meursault to the north and Chassagne-Montrachet to the south. The vineyard of “Les Folatières” produces a wine that is the ultimate expression of the noble Chardonnay grape in the village of Puligny-Montrachet. The vines enjoy an ideal southeast exposure, capturing as much sunlight as the day allows, and grow on limestone and marl soils. “Les Folatières” is the name of the Old French word “foletière,” meaning a place haunted by will-o’-the-wisps, legendary beings, light and lively elves that popular imagination saw dancing above stagnant water. Traditional fermentation in oak barrels with complete malolactic fermentation. Aging for 8 to 10 months in oak barrels, 50% new.
