Lis Neris, Confini, Venezia-Giulia IGT 2007

Gewurztraminer 40%, Pinot Griglio 40%, Riesling 20%

A cuvée where three very different grape varieties coexist. Pinot Grigio forms the backbone of this wine, providing structure, breadth, softness, and warmth. Gewürztraminer plays a crucial role in the aromatic quality of the olfactory sensations. Riesling is vital for achieving the right acidity balance and enhancing the gustatory complexity. The grapes are vinified through fermentation in 500-liter French oak barrels (at 20-22°C), followed by maturation in the same fermentation containers on the fine lees for 11 months with frequent bâtonnage. Additionally, there are 25/27 more months divided between maturation in stainless steel after blending and in glass after bottling. This wine originates from stony and poor soils, deep gravel located between the right bank of the Isonzo River and the Slovenian border. The terroir benefits from good westward ventilation, and the proximity to the Adriatic Sea promotes a Mediterranean climate that ensures a significant temperature difference between day and night, leading to slow grape ripening and a richness of aromas in the wines. Yields are low and of high quality. In “Confini,” you’ll find the style and imprint of Lis Neris, based on softness and complexity. Only 10,000 bottles are produced, and it has an aging potential of approximately 6-10 years.
