La Spinetta Sezzana Sangiovese 2003

Sangiovese 100%

The history of the Rivetti family began in 1890 when Giovanni Rivetti left for Argentina, leaving his family in Italy. It was his son, Giuseppe, who laid the foundations for establishing a winery. He started producing wine, and in 1977, the Rivetti family settled in La Spinetta, Castagnole Lanze, where they produced their first red wine, Barbera Cà di Pian. Recently, the Rivettis also acquired vineyards in Grinzane Cavour, where they built an art cellar called Barolo Campè. The family’s vineyards also extend to Tuscany, covering about 65 hectares of land. After 12 long years in the cellar, and only in the finest vintages, Sezzana, our historic vineyard, gifts us a marvelous expression of Sangiovese. Maceration and alcoholic fermentation occur in tanks at controlled temperatures for an average period of 14-15 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, with 20% new barrels and the remaining ones being second-passage barrels, followed by aging for 24 months. The wine then matures in the bottle for about 100 months.
