Capezzana, Ghiaie della Furba, Toscana IGT 2003

Cabernet Sauvignon 50%, Merlot 25%, Syrah 25%

Born in 1979 from an idea of Ugo and Vittorio Contini Bonacossi, who aimed to produce a Bordeaux-style wine in Carmignano, “Ghiaie della Furba” is the result of a careful blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. It’s a powerful, intense, and elegant red wine, vinified in steel and subsequently matured in French oak barriques for almost two years. The Toscana Rosso IGT “Ghiaie della Furba” by Capezzana is a broad yet compact wine with excellent longevity. The vinification involves a blend consisting of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 25% Syrah. The production area is Carmignano in the province of Prato. Harvesting for Merlot and Syrah takes place in mid-September, while for Cabernet, it occurs in mid-October. Vinification occurs in steel tanks for 7 days of alcoholic fermentation followed by an additional 13 days of maceration with the skins before racking, at a controlled temperature of 26°C.
