Bollinger R.D. Extra Brut Astucciato 2007

Pinot Nero 70%, Chardonnay 30%

The Champagne Brut Special Cuvée is the emblem and symbol of the great maison Bollinger, an absolute glory of Champagne. The first Special Cuvée was produced in 1911 upon the suggestion of an English agent of the Bollinger family, and since then, it has never ceased to be produced, becoming the grand representative of the entire range. The ‘R.D.’ Extra Brut Champagne by Bollinger is akin to a finely crafted work of art in every small detail. That’s why the grapes used for the cuvée, composed of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, come from as many as 23 Cru. For the first grape variety, the vineyards used are primarily located in the areas of Ay, Verzenay, Bouzy, and Tauxieres; the Chardonnay vines are found in Cramant, Le Mesnil-Sur-Oger, Oger, and Cuis. In total, it consists of 71% Grand Cru and 29% Premier Cru. The fermentation of the base wines takes place entirely in barrels, and the refermentation in the bottle with subsequent aging on lees lasts three times longer than the minimum required by regulations, reaching 45 months of maturation.
