Tenuta San Guido, Sassicaia Bolgheri 2019

Cabernet Sauvignon 85% e Cabernet Franc 15%

Sassicaia is the most famous Italian wine in the world, the epitome of balance in terms of body and complexity. It represents both the flagship of Italian winemaking, the cornerstone for subsequent excellences, and the keystone of the oenological rebirth of the area. It was conceived by Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, who, already in the 1920s, dreamt of creating a purebred wine, like the horses he owned at the time in his stables. He decided to plant Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc grapes at Tenuta San Guido, inspired by the resemblance he noticed between these soils and the Bordeaux region: stony and rocky soils, just like a “Sassicaia.” The contribution of the winemaker Giacomo Tachis was invaluable, as he became a symbol of top-quality winemaking, known and appreciated worldwide, a cultural icon like the hand of the master of Italian winemaking that stroked it for a long time. Sassicaia will enhance all grand occasions and sumptuous dinners, but when sipped in pleasant solitude and contemplation, it will astonish you like no other. The grapes originate in one of the company’s most famous crus, composed of a mosaic of natural elements. The unique terrain, west and southwest exposure, and an altitude of 100-300 meters have created the perfect cradle to nurture this prestigious oenological treasure. The aging process lasts for 24 months in French oak barriques.
