Tenuta San Guido, Guidalberto, Toscana IGT 2015

Merlot e Cabernet Sauvignon

Guidalberto from Tenuta San Guido can be considered the little brother of Sassicaia. Its vineyards are located in soils rich in galestro, limestone, and clay at an altitude ranging from 100 to 300 meters above sea level. The harvest, carried out manually, begins with the Merlot towards the end of August and continues in September with the Cabernet Sauvignon. In the cellar, the grapes are sorted, and the best berries are selected, followed by a gentle pressing and destemming of the clusters. The fermentation, which takes place without the addition of external yeasts, is initiated in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at temperatures between 26 and 28°C. After a maceration of about 10 days for Merlot and 11-14 days for Cabernet Sauvignon, the musts are transferred to French and American oak barrels for 15 months.
