Lodovico Antinori, Tenuta di Biserno, Biserno Bibbona, Toscana IGT 2020

Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon e Petit Verdot

The red wine “Pino di Biserno” comes to life in the marvelous vineyards of the Biserno Estate, discovered by Lodovico Antinori in 1995. It is a plot that borders to the north with Bibbona and to the south with Bolgheri, characterized by alluvial soils composed of limestone, clay, and smoothed pebbles, ensuring good drainage. In the clay-rich areas, Merlot has been planted, while the conglomerate and limestone-rich areas are planted with Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. The vines are trained using the cordon spur system and are still surrounded by extensive wooded areas and olive groves. The climate is typically Mediterranean, hot and dry, mitigated only by the breezes from the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea, which soften the temperatures, allowing for slow and gradual ripening of the grapes. Harvesting and fermentations take place separately based on the ripening period of the grapes. After soft destemming, fermentations occur in steel. 90% of the wine matures for 12 months in new and used barrels, while 10% matures in steel.
