Hospices de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Cuvee Francois de Salin 2000

Chardonnay 100%

Corton-Charlemagne is a unique Grand Cru vineyard in Burgundy with a name associated with two emperors: Curtis Otho, the German emperor, which later transformed into Courthon and then Corton, and Charlemagne, the Holy Roman Emperor. Situated on the iconic “Cortons Hill,” this Grand Cru has earned international recognition for the entire hill’s wines. The “Hill” or “Mountain of Cortons” comprises a variety of terroirs and styles, covering around 500 hectares of vineyards planted with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It spans across the villages of Ladoix, Serrigny, Aloxe-Corton, and Pernand Vergelesses, positioned between La Côte des Pierres (south of the Côte de Nuits) and Savigny-les-Beaune (north of the Côte de Beaune). The vineyard ranges from 250 to 330 meters above sea level, forming an amphitheater that is unique in the region. In addition to Corton-Charlemagne, the “Mountain of Corton” also produces red Corton wines.Corton-Charlemagne wines exhibit a beautiful green and gold color and typically reach their peak after aging for five to ten years. On the nose, you can detect aromas of fresh walnuts that slowly transition to a rich and generous taste, often influenced by the barrel aging process. This aging imparts a delicate touch of honey, dried fruits, or even exotic fruits, even in their youth.
