Bouchard Pere & Fils, Les Gouttes d’Or, Meursault Premier Cru 2004

Chardonnay 100%

Maison Bouchard Père et Fils, founded in 1731, has over time created one of the finest vineyards in Burgundy by acquiring exceptional terroir vineyards. In 1811, the corporate name “Bouchard Père et Fils” was officially established. During the 19th century, the estate continued to acquire new lands, and in the following century, it decided to focus on managing the business. Starting from the 1960s, the property resumed its acquisition policy. In 1995, the Bouchard family handed over the reins to another historic family from Champagne: the Henriot Champagne House. The new team took over the vineyard, completely renewing the activity, including the style of the wines. This Meursault comes from the vineyards of the Les Gouttes d’Or plot, which produces wines with a golden hue imparted by aging. Fun fact: Les Gouttes d’Or was the favorite plot of a great wine connoisseur, Thomas Jefferson. And it’s no coincidence: we’re talking about one of the most complex Premier Cru in Meursault. The bouquet is aromatic, with notes of flowers and candied fruit, while on the palate, it reveals a fragrant and rich character without being heavy.
