Bouchard Pere & Fils, Corton-Charlemagne Grand 1999

Chardonnay 100%

Maison Bouchard Père et Fils, founded in 1731, has over time created one of the finest vineyards in Burgundy by acquiring exceptional terroir vineyards. In 1811, the corporate name “Bouchard Père et Fils” was officially established. During the 19th century, the estate continued to acquire new lands, and in the following century, it decided to focus on managing the business. Starting from the 1960s, the property resumed its acquisition policy. In 1995, the Bouchard family handed over the reins to another historic family from Champagne: the Henriot Champagne House. The new team took over the vineyard, completely renewing the activity, including the style of the wines. According to legend, Charlemagne loved the wines of Corton, which were only red at the time. That’s why he decided to plant Chardonnay in the south-facing plots. This Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru features citrus, honey, and smoky notes. It exhibits controlled freshness and a rounded character that creates a beautiful balance. To reach its full potential, it will need at least ten years of aging.
