Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin La Grand Dame Brut Rose 1998

Pinot Nero 92%, Chardonnay 8%

The Rosé ‘La Grande Dame’ originates from one of the most famous Maisons in the world. Veuve Clicquot was founded in 1772 and remains one of the most renowned brands globally, boasting a range of excellent quality labels. The grapes come from the estate’s most prized parcels, specifically from 6 out of the 8 Grand Cru villages owned by the estate. The Pinot Noir hails from the famous villages of Aÿ, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzy, and Verzenay, while the Chardonnay comes from Le-Mesnil-sur-Oger. After gentle pressing, the musts are separately vinified as white wines. Following an aging period, the vins clairs are blended, and 14% of red wine Pinot Noir from Clos Colin in Bouzy, one of the domaine’s most prestigious historic plots, is added to the cuvée. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle using the Champenoise Method, with a resting period on lees of at least 10 years in the Maison’s ancient cellars.
