Masseto” is a “Cru” that comes from the vineyard of the same name, covering only seven hectares, known for its exceptional terroirs. Made entirely from Merlot, it boasts great structure and longevity, produced in extremely limited quantities due to rigorous selection and a commitment to excellence. The grapes were manually selected on a double sorting table before and after destemming, then gently pressed. Fermentation took place in cement tanks, while small portions of the vineyard were fermented in temperature-controlled barrels. Maceration times ranged from 21 to 28 days. Malolactic fermentation began in new oak barrels, with the various lots kept separate for the first 12 months of aging. Subsequently, the wines were blended and returned to barrels for another year, totaling 24 months. As usual, Masseto was allowed to mature for an additional 12 months in the bottle before being released to the market.
