Bouchard Pere & Fils, Les Pucelles, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru 2007

Chardonnay 100%

Maison Bouchard Père et Fils, founded in 1731, has over time created one of the finest vineyards in Burgundy by acquiring exceptional terroir vineyards. In 1811, the corporate name “Bouchard Père et Fils” was officially established. During the 19th century, the estate continued to acquire new lands, and in the following century, it decided to focus on managing the business. Starting from the 1960s, the property resumed its acquisition policy. In 1995, the Bouchard family handed over the reins to another historic family from Champagne: the Henriot Champagne House. The new team took over the vineyard, completely renewing the activity, including the style of the wines. The wines produced in this appellation are considered among the greatest white wines in the world. The name Puligny dates back to Gallo-Roman times, around 2000 years ago, when a certain Puliniacus created his vineyard. The limestone soil imparts a unique subtlety to the Chardonnay grapes, which is enhanced by a southeastern exposure and sloping terrain that aids drainage. White wines from Puligny are known for their distinguished aromas, including almond paste, fern, exotic fruits, amber, and white flowers. In the mouth, the acidity is rather unobtrusive, resulting in a soft and intensely persistent expression.
